Freedom and Determinism Free Essays

â€Å"Freedom, Determinism, and the Case for Moral Responsibility: A Look Back at the Murder of Jamie Bulger† starts by recounting the appalling wrongdoing that is the highlight of this paper. On February twelfth 1993, British little child Jamie Bulger snatched at a nearby shopping center in Liverpool, England. Proof that the multi year old was beaten, explicitly attacked, and clubbed to death with blocks and an iron bar before disposing of his body on train tracks. We will compose a custom article test on Opportunity and Determinism or on the other hand any comparable subject just for you Request Now The age of his two aggressors, Jon Venables and Robert Thompson, ten years of age. At that point they start to clarify the distinction of sentiments on the obligation of the killers. One side marks the young men as savages and lawbreakers, while the different contends that they are â€Å"victims of more extensive social, monetary, and social procedures. † Sparking the inquiry, would we say we are genuinely answerable for how we act in the public eye? The paper at that point proceeds onward to the resistance of determinism and how it identifies with this particular occasion, expressing that, â€Å"From a determinist perspective, Jon Venables’s and Robert Thompson’s destiny was set even before their introduction to the world. Destined to badly instructed, common laborers guardians, the subtleties of the boys’ lives establish an authentic list of social ills. † The paper edifies us on the unpleasant and negative conditions that both Jon Venables and Robert Thompson were brought up in. Jon’s guardians were â€Å"unstable and depressed,† and his father in the long run surrendered his harsh mother, himself and his â€Å"developmentally challenged† kin. Thompson was the second most youthful of â€Å"seven vicious and forceful boys†¦ one of whom was a pyro criminal and another who was an ace hoodlum. His folks were lushes and he saw his mom being beaten by his dad in numerous alcoholic driven vicious upheavals. The inquiry is raised if Venables and Thompson are ethically answerable for the activities prompting the homicide of little Jamie. Here is the place the paper truly plunges into the determinist philosphy, expressing â€Å"the Determinist contention holds that a pe rson’s heredity and condition fix the decision before it is made. † Using genuine sources, for example, â€Å"The Delusion of Free Will† by Robert Blatchford and â€Å"What Means This Freedom† by John Hospers, the paper presents sound thinking to the determinist see. Taking from Blatchford, the point â€Å"that educating is a piece of our condition and that we go about as we have been trained that we should act. Along these lines, however we may go about as we pick, we will pick as heredity and condition prompt us to choose† John Hospers recommends that one considers no liable for any of ones activities since activities â€Å"grow out of his character, which is formed and shaped and made what it is by impacts . . . that were not of his own creation or choosing† The paper likewise presents a few contentions against the deterministic view from the through and through freedom point of view. Another article, â€Å"A Brief Defense of Free Will† by Tibor Macha, and his conclusion â€Å"the truth that a few people with terrible childhoods end up being evildoers while others are average would appear to demonstrate that individuals can cause and are answerable for probably some of what they do,† is analyzed. In â€Å"The Problem of Free Will,† W. T. Stace states, â€Å"In the instance of Jamie Bulger’s killers, youthful as they were at that point, the drive to dispense incredible torment on the little child, right now they did it, doesn't appear to have been remotely caused. They wanted to do it. They were not persuaded by any outer factor, for example, the notorious firearm to the head. They were ethically liable for their activity and in this way had the right to be rebuffed. † While this paper makes a sensible and proficient contention for us to attempt to see wrongdoings like this from a progressively deterministic view, I make some hard memories changing over. Being that I am a criminal equity major, I am mindful that there are a wide range of hypotheses on why violations are carried out, and not just what ought to be never really keep them from happening again, yet what sort of treatment or discipline the perpetrator(s) ought to get to all the more adequately restore them. I am one that remains with firm equity on merciless acts this way, paying little mind to age. In spite of the fact that in a rough and criminalistic condition, the children were not straightforwardly compelled to perpetrate such a frightful demonstration, nor did they ever observe it from their folks. Hence, as I would see it, the obligation exists in the children for their craving to torment, however execute. The most effective method to refer to Freedom and Determinism, Papers

BLOG In: Popular topics Courage, determination, bravery, nobility, the ability to sacrifice oneself in the name of another person or a meaningful idea are the main features inherent in the true hero. Market Study on Cereal Business in UK Free-Sample for Students

Question: Completed a Workshop Group Presentation. Answer: Introduction This section provides an overview of the whole assignment. The group carried out a market study on cereal business in the UK. The group formed a new company called imago and uses it to elaborate on how the cereal products are basically used for breakfast and procedures used to sell the products. The first part discusses all the processes used when carrying out the assignment thats from identifying the major point of discussion to observations identified and conclusions made. In the second section the paper describes how the group examined the findings and response to the results. It also presents the challenges faced during the workshop task and how to overcome the challenges and various improvements to make. In addition, the paper demonstrates key points learnt from the workshop group assignment task and critical reflection of the same discussed in the paper. The assignment process When carrying out our group assignment, we planned the whole process in a systematic way. The following steps were used to organize our work. First, we identified the main point of study which was a market study for cereal products in the UK. In the next step we came up with objectives that guided us in carrying out the study. The first objective was identifying the gap that exists in the market which was demand for cereal products recommended for break fast. The second one was to identify strategies to be used for marketing the new product. For example the channels to use for reaching the consumers, considering consumer preferences in order to solve their problems and relay clear information to the customers about the company. Our third objective was to discover the methods to use for marketing like advertisements. The last objective was identifying the competitors, that is, other companies selling the same types of products. The third step was reviewing the existing information about cereal product. These products are believed to have bioactive elements that are health enhancing. Some studies show that flour combination with wheat which is a cereal product that provides health benefits to all individuals. (Losso, 2010). Fourth step involved observations on how other UK markets sell the products, strategies they use, their market performance and their target groups. From the findings of our observations we decided to form the Imago Company which will concentrate on the new cereal product. We then analyzed the information obtained after interpreting to find out the target market, the approximate number of consumers and the prices to quote for the new products. (Browne, 2013). The last step was conclusion of the main area of discussion for the study. In this case we focused on important cereal products that should be used for breakfast to ensure healthy living. We chose imago as our new company that gives a view on how marketing of the cereal product should be conducted. The company gives descriptions of main concepts such as the marketing analysis the company uses, its target customers, product delivery and ways of communicating about the product to clients, operations design, strategy and development of the business. (International Journal of Social Research Methodology: Theory Practice, 2012) Content of the group To be able to handle the task given to us in the workshop to be done as a group, we first had to identify the cereal product that meets health requirements of people; we then identified its importance and how to ensure consumers get the information about the product. After determining the product we chose a company that will be able to sell it. We shared views on how to make our company more competitive, which is through initiating affordable cost, making sure quality of the product is good as well as packaging. I learned that pricing should always go hand in hand with quality because customers want to see value for the money they spend on products. I also learnt that breakfast is an important meal that helps to burn calories and helps one concentrate and focus throughout the days work. Cereal products are recommended as breakfast meals and should always be considered by everyone to lead a healthy lifestyle as seen from our observations (Albertson, 2012). The group therefore found it necessary to have more companies that sell health-conscious products. Consumers are likely to engage in purchasing the healthy products which will definitely lead to increase in demand that raises the need of wide market of cereal products to curb future demand increase. From the assignment task, I have learnt that before selecting products to sell in the market especially a new product, one should first look at the importance that the products have. For instance the product under discussion in this case is cereals which are used to produce breakfast product that is the most important meal for a day. I also learned that to be able to have effective marketing strategy, a marketer should always differentiate the market into segments or niches then develop appropriate strategy to pitch for his/her product to the respective market niches identified. For example if the product target is middle age group, mode of advertisement should be social media that is through the internet. For old age advertisement mode should be through radio and television channels or magazines Strategic role of the operations and production technology Imago focused on four aspects of operations strategy. These are HIGH Volume and LOW Variety, Variation and Visibility. I learned that this strategy played a crucial role in that the high volume production results to lower cost of production and Low variety means Imago will focus on small number of products that it can perfect over time in accordance to consumer behaviour. From the operation strategy Imago will also need to monitor delivery of the products by the suppliers/distributors to the market and ascertain if it is on time as collecting feedback from customers for improvements as a result of brand visibility. Imago will also need to invest in appropriate technology so that it can be able to march demand and supply at any given time. To meet performance objectives which include quality, speed, dependability, flexibility and cost I learned that Imago would need source cereals and other raw materials that produced organically as opposed to inorganically. If it h as to be inorganic then the levels of chemicals in these raw materials should be within England standards. Organic raw materials are expensive and Imago may require more funds to source these materials than it would need if it decides to go inorganically like in GMO products. On the issue of speed Imago will have to invest in well organized distribution chain to deliver the products on time. To achieve dependability I learned that Imago will need to invest in machines and/or current production with high up time for continuous flow of products to the market. Imago would also need high capacity production machines to increase production levels and keep production cost as well as having low flexibility for stable product in the market Challenges faced and how we overcome them During the workshop group task we faced some of the following challenges. First selecting the product to study on was difficult. Most products are competitive and sold by almost all companies. Sometimes areas or topic of study is a crucial section to choose since its the foundation of the whole research or study(Bhat, 2015). We overcome this challenge by identifying a unique product which is more health oriented than money oriented making it rare product to be sold by companies. We therefore selected cereal products used in production of breakfast products. As foreseen we faced challenges in getting adequate number of feedback. We had few turn up of feedback from our target group. We needed to obtain information about market performance on various products from the target group before selecting products that fits our interest, but due to lack of adequate information it posed a great challenge to us. We overcome this by covering a wider market size to get more information from a large population in the market field, we also had to increase on resources like time and money to enable us get to reach a large population. The second challenge was assembling the group since for one to achieve effective results after identifying the topic of study a well cooperating team should be formed. Some of the group members failed to corporate fully due to ignorance especially when we had to get in to the interior parts of the market and more time and money needed for us to achieve our objective of coming into contact with many individuals. To overcome such challenge, the team should always agree to work together under any condition given and expect changes on the plans made. For example, the group members should always be ready in case of time rescheduling if the target information expected is not met for them to meet their set target Improvements to make From this study I learned that having healthy breakfast is the best diet for anyone who looks to live a healthy lifestyle. However the company needs to improve on the following aspects in order for it to remain competitive and improve on its market share. Imago should consider conducting health talk to companies in United Kingdom. It can do this buy contracting a medical doctor who will be offering the health talks on behalf of Imago to corporates within its market area. The health talks sessions can be secured by marketing team by visiting the targeted companies or by writing to them offering free health talk session to their employees for about half an hour or so before they start work in the morning or after work in the evening or any other time that the target company feels comfortable with. The talk can be based on a lifestyle topic such lifestyle diseases which include diabetes among other diseases. Of note can be diabetes mellitus type 2. In this case 90% of those people who are obese and diabetic have type 2 diabetes. So clearly there is a correlation of about 0.9 on being obese and having type 2 diabetes. To put this into perspective about 9 out of 10 people who are obese and diabetic have type 2 diabetes. With this stat the doctor can recommend to attendants of the health talk session(s) to consider having healthy breakfasts every morning as well as other meals and this is the point Imago can come in the picture to market its breakfast products. (Patanathabutr and Chaiyakal, 2013) Imago should also consider conducting product activations in the streets or designated locations of cities where it has product presence. As members of the public go about their daily business they will be free to visit Imago tent located in secure environment in streets where the company can have their BMIs and blood cholesterol taken for free. If someone is found to have high BMI (body mass index) then Imagos healthy breakfast products can be recommended to her/him. Imago can also distribute flyers within the area where its activation tent is pitched / located to passersby to improve the company product visibility. In conclusion, the workshop market study assignment carried out has enable us learn how to plan the process of carrying out any research study because we are now familiar on how to plan our work. On the critical review part of the study, the research has helped communicate the important value about healthy living which many people dont know about, the assignment therefore was meant to narrow down the major points people need to know. That is, information about the new products, the importance of the product to human health that consumers need to know and on the marketing side, it discussed how companies need to set strategies in order to sell more and developing more markets for the products. The ways in which the company should operate in order to sell the new product was also illustrated. This will be of great help especially to the new companies joining the market and doesnt have an idea of which product to concentrate on. (Patanathabutr and Chaiyakal, 2013) The general knowledge derived from the market study has proved that working in a group results to effective outcome whereby the time used is not much compared to when working as an individual. The expenses incurred are also not much since the cost is shared amongst the group members. Therefore, I will recommend more research carried out in groups for more effective results despite the challenges. References Albertson, A. (2012). The Rainbow for a friend Review Essay Example

The Rainbow for a friend Review Paper Essay on The Rainbow for a friend I ordered here was taken without any problems: Labrador Trisong (Trisha) a specially trained guide dog to accompany the blind. Previously, he worked at the old man Trisong Ivan Savelyevich. The dog often remembers him. His memories make the reader reflect on the many problems blind people with disabilities in our country. In Russia, for three hundred blind people there is only one guide dog, whereas, for example in England and the United States, the ratio is one to ten, ie ten people with disabilities a guide dog. With the dog and its owners (or as he calls them, friends) are constantly taking place all sorts of adventures and funny, and sad. The passengers crowd pushed the dog with w / e platform, and he almost died. The passers-by trying to flirt with a dog that absolutely can not do. Then at the traffic light drivers start to beep. Trisong tells about their ancestry and origin of the breed. After the death of Ivan Savelyevich, the dog gave a blind boy of thirteen. Trisong first even offended that Sasha began to call him simply Trishka. Name something the dog was the kings. But the dog understands that it is a child and loves his ward. Is a special profession One day Sasha was not allowed to the supermarket with a dog (although the guide law must pass all institutions), the guy tied the dog at the store. While the boy nahodilsyav store Trisong stolen. They are taken out of the city, and there shut in the barn. Thieves know that this dog is very expensive, and would like to sell. But labrador this is a very kopuchaya dog. He made the night for a tunnel and escaped. As long as he got home, it was with a lot of adventure. He was in someone elses family, where the haughty cat lived, then went to the police (even sat them in a cage), but still ran from the sluggishness policeman. Trisong offered to be a watchman for the guide it is not suitable. One day, he met with stray dogs, which banned him from their territory to ask for food and to look into the dustbins. In other words, the dog suffered enough grief, yet found a home and his Sasha. In this adventure did not end there. On the walk teens stuck to Sasha, and wanted to hurt him. Trisong bravely stood up. Yes, there are more and supposedly more solid, more clever and potalantlivee who methodically, selflessness, apparently getting pleasure from it, continue to strike sharply and damp matches and throw them in the long extinct fire. And like the smart and healthy uncle ties to large formal care conferences, and symposia in a frenzy to decide what is more important: rusted, but suddenly wiser over the years of operation of the lunar tractor or just beginning to blossom branch Japanese cherry I am, as always, not right.. But when I look at these inconclusive, futile disputes and dogmatic conclusions smart men, it would be desirable at times to exclaim to the stake? How long will you measure the space non-existent time, and while the vast space separating physicists and poets, and then their own and join in an attempt to iron anvil grow dandelions? Nothing just happens in real life and not It happens. Creativity that originated from space, time, talent, and the ordinances of the abyss, does not require the calculation of years of age and the notorious accumulated life experience. Abyss Sacrament does not need to understand. On it, and the sacrament. Remember, as the well-known truth: it is not necessary to look into the abyss, and the abyss will come after you, you swallow However, life is a daily and confirmed!. Those who love most of all to judge and treat others more than themselves, and most of all get sick. Yes, and live on less. But there is nothing to take on the mission of God! Not casual people thrown in temptation. But, thank God, not all think so. Not everyone thinks that to write well, you can only do with age. Not all identify themselves only to the lyrics, physics and metaphysics. There turns out to be more normal people from birth. Yes, and talented. Today I present to readers of one of the normal and talented writer (and he, in spite of his young years 13 years was already a fairly eminent writer, who has written three () complete, art books: On the swings between the hills! Rainbow for others and Twelve touching the horizon ) Michael Samara. I deliberately did not write pet name Misha, because the Lord has given Michael as talent and integrity of nature, adult rational and watchful mind, a comprehensive, sharp word. Perhaps someone does not agree with my specific inference that age is not a hindrance to creativity. Wranglers on the internet that say for the sake of talking and arguing for the sake of arguing, always enough. It is, as a rule, those who put on low heat fry the meatballs in the kitchen, quickly ran to the computer to a couple of times to press the keys and also quickly ran back to the kitchen. Otherwise, burgers Undermountain! But Im here and I will not argue. Life itself has put everything on its shelves. How would anyone not argued, and the lyrics long ago spun off from the physicists, and physicists began lyricists. Adults aunts and uncles, who were made rich life experiences, long ago drove his train, stuffed with waste paper and pornushnoy nabivshimi nauseam horror (from which tremble themselves at night!) In a dead end. And stubbornly Buravov this impasse, continuing to pull out of the bowels of the so-called life experience lived their dirty clothes. You know, you can criticize everything. But there is a difference between the sili- black coal face and the spring freshness of the early June morning, between a rusty nail and a field of wild daisies? I read all three books Misha Samara. And I will not expose the analysis of each of them. Because its a sin! It is a sin to hear the same fontanelle early June morning, and at the same time wondering: Why? It is a sin not to listen to silence the silence and the voice of a pine forest, the chirping of birds and at the same time, the puzzle itself sacramental question: How, and why? Probably all the troubles today originate from the fact that we are constantly engaged in talking shop condemn someone (and talents we have always and consistently condemn!) and do not know how to listen to including the nature, the people around us, and ultimately, and yourself! What we do not have harmony and resonance with the existence and nature. And we get more and more and more bitio. So what can I say, we learn to lie. Or, if you want to write. In the case and is not the case. But Misha Samara, unlike us who have lived, accumulated and venerable, is the very nature. Thank God, untouched, not bent trials and foundations NATURE. From creativity Misha Samara smells fresh, virgin, cool, natural presentation of ideas and the truth of life. Misha these lives. It is very good, he writes, lives and can not lie. And not learn. Because the style is. Not vranlivy. Direct style. Lays out everything as it is Want to criticism from me? Please! Sometimes some of his lines, for example, in Rainbow for others seem childish little naive. But not declarative! But pure thoughts, deeds and thoughts, and be a little naive. We should always be human, man. A pet dog, the more it is known, does not betray. What can be even cleaner, more openly and sincerely Misha Creativity Samara it is the warmth and love. And, most importantly, the soul. This is truly the soul must work! Therefore, I would poosterog zealous critics and well-wishers of the accusations, because Michael Samara the writer of an open, direct and honest style It is no secret.? Lets also be honest to admit that even we experienced writers often complain that our creativity much prevents, for example, toscha or no inspiration, someone talking loudly, finally, the tea is not too sweet and not quite hot But judging by the works of Misha Samara, we can conclude: This is the writer who does not interfere to create, nothing prevents neither in life nor in friendship or in their studies or in prose You do not have to look! Cause and effect, compared with the work of older people and very adult! Because talent Mischa Samara is primarily manifested in humanity, mercy, and compassionate. Because talent he is around talent. Michael Samara talented in all. Speaking as Misha Samara achieved such peaks, it is quite another, serious topic. But now we can proudly state, speaking of our national literature, that in our ranks at last master narrative appeared. Because it is this schoolboy, Misha Samara, characterized by extreme accuracy, spirituality, art and craftsmanship. The secret of his skill in constant movement of thought, soul, cultivating creativity and thirst Perhaps, say, that Michael Samara create your individual, no one else like, original creative world, it is too early. Hes just in the way. But re-reading the book Misha, we can say that the building and the creation of Misha Samara will be very strong, classic, elegant and harmonious. Good luck, Mike, happiness and creative way! If you do not, no one! Do you understand me. And again, enjoy reading and rereading books Misha Samara. I read and I can not help wondering, we do not have enough time and space encompassing spirituality, brightness, sonority, precision and muscularity phrases of volume of human thinking. Thank you, Michael! Your book it is a valuable gift for people who know how to think Honored Worker of Culture of Russia, A member of the Russian Writers Union, A member of the Russian Union of Journalists / A!. Writing for Literary Magazines

Writing for Literary Magazines 163 Literary Magazines Accepting Reprints http://publishedtodeath.blogspot.com/2016/01/163-literary-magazines-accepting.html The more I read the list the madder I got. Not at the blog and not at the author, but at the fact  123 of those 163 publications dont pay for reprints. But what you dont immediately see is most of them dont pay for original works, either. Look closely and youll see that 11 pay token payments, three admit paying pennies, 12 pay semi-pro rates when pro is six cents/word. Some admit $1, $2, $5 and $8 flat rate. You could count on one hand the ones that pay double digits, with the highest admitting paying $10 to $100. I understand that the author of the piece attempted to help writers who wanted to resell material theyd already published. Very few of them will pay you, but you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have reached more readers. Sorry, thats still exposure, in my book in lieu of payment.   Why should you write for these publications? You shouldnt. The only way Id write for a publication such as these is if their reputation is pretty darn big and can catapult your career. I dont mean 2,500 readers. I mean tens of thousands and their name is recognizable and respected. Otherwise, youre feeding their preference to pay writers nothing and the exposure promise is worth nil. Exposure to a small group is not exposure. Why do people submit to them? A wide range of reasons. Because they think itll make them look professional. Because they think the exposure will do something for their career, not evening thinking what exposure means.  Because they hate rejection. Many would rather publish quickly or for nothing than hold out. Its possibly ego or desperation to publish, or a combination of the two. Its so much more professional, and youll respect yourself so much more, if you hold off publishing until you can climb the ladder a little bit and reach the paying publications. Yes, even in the literary world, they have markets that pay. One of the biggest myths out there is if you write for free or pennies, you are paying your dues. Um, no. You are proving to a higher calibre editor and publication that you settle for less. Most say they do not have the budget to pay. Many say they are nonprofit and cannot afford to pay. Some say they are university affiliated and, therefore, cannot afford to pay. The fact is, if you run a business (and a nonprofit or university press is a business), and you run it properly, you find the money to pay the people providing the raw materials that make it happen. The printer, the mailman, and all the players who put that publication together are getting paid. Which means you should be shamed into starving.

A "honeypot" is a very useful tool for protecting networks from not permitted access. In fact, the honeypot does not encompass applications or data that is vital to the business organization but it contains an adequate amount of attractive data to attract a hacker (SANS, 2013). In view of the fact that a honeypot is only a system tool or application or file that has entirely no reason in production hence it can be assumed that if the honeypot is accessed, there might be some reason that is not linked to a specific business corporation on purpose (Bandy, Money, & Worstell, Intrusion Detection FAQ: What is a honeypot? Why do I need one?, 2013). It is an admitted fact that the honeypots can be very helpful to business corporations that have considerable resources to maintain them. However, if an organization does not have a security expert to strictly keep an eye on a honeypot the organizations has, at finest, built a susceptible platform that is not checked regularly as well as at wor st, a platform that can be occupied and employed by any hacker to attack other systems. New fuel cell technology used to replace APU in new boeing 737 and Essay

New fuel cell technology used to replace APU in new boeing 737 and airbus A320 - Essay Example It is monitored and controlled by the Electronic Controller. There are actually many different kinds of APUs used in the Boeing 737, created by a few different manufacturers. The AlliedSignal APU has the highest power rating at 90kVA up to 31,000 ft. (Brady, 1999); this power rating drops at higher altitude. Fuel cell technology is currently able to match this 90 kilo-Volt-Ampere power rating, in order to replace this APU. This has been demonstrated in test flights of hydrogen-powered aircraft, as described below. ‘The SOFC uses jet fuel as the reformer in the proton exchange membrane to give a 440kW APU that is 75% efficient compared to the conventional 40-45% efficient APUs. This would give a typical fuel saving of 1,360t for a 737 over a year. It is actually a hybrid gas turbine / fuel cell due to the sudden surges in demand eg engine starts and gear retraction etc. The SOFC will use air from a compressor passed through a heat exchanger for its gas turbine section. A potential drawback is that it has a 40min start-up time, so it would have to remain on for the whole day and depending upon its noise levels this could be a problem at airports which require the APU to be shutdown during the turnaround. ‘ The efficiency of SOFCs over conventional APUs is large; although the long start-up time might be prohibitable. The technology needed for a SOFC APU to replace the current Boeing APU may be available by 2010, but it could take much longer. Boeing was working in conjunction with Airbus to develop the necessary technologies to replace the APUs with fuel cell technology, since they essentially share the same supplier pool, but they were ready to split when it came to time to develop competitive finished products. The technology for building hydrogen-fueled aircraft has already been demonstrated. The Airbus A320 Fuel Cell Demonstrator was first publicly presented in Berlin in 2008. The fuel cell system provides 20kW of

Seminary in Brooklyn Should be Encouraged Essay Example for Free

Seminary in Brooklyn Should be Encouraged Essay In the beginning of twelfth many girls have the conflict of deciding whether they should attend a year in Israel for an experience in Jewish studies, or to stay home and have the same kind Jewish Studies of experience in New York without being in Israel and attend college. In this beginning time period of twelfth grade the chatter of whose going to seminary and whose not are the constant conversations. This causes way too much stress and tension on girls regarding which seminary in Israel they should apply to. Not applying to seminary It makes the twelfth grade year an unstressed year. Twelfth grade should be a stress free zone since it’s the last year spending time with your friends. Seminary is valuable, but Israel is not necessary. Seminary in Israel should not be presented and pushed as the only alternative. Schools tend to forget the spectacular seminaries we have here, in Brooklyn NY. of November, schools start to bring seminary into talk. Signs for open houses, seminary meetings, option nights are posted everywhere. Option night is an assigned night for all twelfth graders along with their parents to attend. What goes on this night is that one representative from each seminary speak. They speak about the seminary they attended send describe their own personal experience with that seminary. They give the audience a feel of the seminary. Students and parents go home with a lot of confusion. Which seminary is my daughters’ type? Which one will she do well in? so many difficult questions arise. This turns into stress. In my opinion if they speak about Brooklyn seminaries and not hide it in the sand, it would change plenty of parent’s minds, and make the decision an easier one. Seminary advisors send out notes to set up a meeting with each individual student along with their parents. The goal of this meeting is to help make the right decision for the gir l and what is best for her. The seminary advisor takes out a list of all seminaries, and goes through each one individually. She tries cutting down the seminaries that are not the right fit for the student. This minimizes their selection and makes it easier for the girl and the family to choose what is best for each individual girl. The seminary adviser that is assigned to each girl does help many girls, but I think they are mainly focusing on the Israel part and barely mentioning staying home. Peer pressure at this point is above indescribable. Girls that don’t really want to go and would be okay in Brooklyn are feeling that pressure, â€Å"my friends are going therefore I should go.† I went through this myself. I didn’t want to feel like that loner that’s giving away the opportunity, and going to stay home alone. Seminary in Brooklyn is definitely not being discussed as much as it should be. It should be equally advertised as Israel is. I feel this system should be changed. Schools should cut down on the pushing girls to go to Israel. and start focusing on the superb seminaries we have here in the United States. I’ve interviewed friends of mine whom experienced the Israel seminary program along with those who have stayed in Brooklyn seminaries. Debra was in Darchei Bina for a year. She had a grand year. The one word she used to describe her experience was â€Å"indescribable† she had no words to describe her experience. I asked her what she gained from that year and why she would encourage Israel seminary. She answered me back one word â€Å"friendship, that’s the highlight of my year†. I told her to explain and elaborate on what she meant by that. She said the friendships she made within those ten months of her life she will always cherish forever. She became closer to girls in 10 months, than she as with her friends back home that she was with for years. I asked how such a thing is possible. She replied briefly â€Å"seminary is a time period where a girl is mature and knows what and who she is in life, and what she wants to perceived as in the future. She knows what type of friends are good for her and which girls will help her and be the person she wants to be in the future, you find those few friends who will stay with you forever. Debra is already four ye ars out of seminary. Her closest friends she made that year live in London and Chicago. They speak every night and visit each other on occasion. She brought up a good point because in higschool you move from friend to friend because nobody is stable yet. I personally say that you can find those same friends in Brooklyn seminaries. It will definitely take longer to bond but at the end of the day you will find that. It will take longer since you’re not together 24-7. You’re together for a couple of hours a day. Debra brought up a fantastic point; some girls need that quick friendship process that brings everlasting friendships. Not everyone needs that and not everyone gains such friendships in Israel, it’s not guaranteed. Another friend of mine, Michal who attended seminar told me about her experience. Michal focus and reason to go was to gain independence. â€Å" I used to be that girl that needed mommy for everything, whether it was driving me places, going shopping, or even making my bed.† After a year of completing the seminary stage in her life she said she is no longer that same old Michal anym ore. She’s more independent than anyone else can be. â€Å"Without that one year of Israel I wouldn’t be who I am today, I would be a mommys girl that nobody appreciates†. For her it was the best move of her life. Girls who need that sense and feel of living on your own and become independent, Israel may be a success. Some girls do need that. Doing laundry on your, cleaning, folding, taking care of shabbos meals, basically doing everything without mommy. On the other hand she shares the negative part of her experience. She is used to a cozy comfortable life. Her clean room, her clean spotless house. She had a very hard time adjusting to this big switch. She said everything in seminary is flying, its ugly. She believes a girl should know what she is coming to before she registers for seminary. â€Å"Its not something a person should jump into, if you’re that type of clean person, think twice before coming.† This was difficult for her but she kept telling herself I’m here for the right reason, to gain independence, therefore I will live with this. â€Å"If a girl doesn’t have the right reasons to come, I believe she should stay in Brooklyn seminary.† I enjoyed interviewing Michal. What she said really touched me. It did bring a valid point that girls should be aware of. Mrs. Edery, a parent of a twelfth grader explains as follows. â€Å"It’s so unfair and unnecessary to us the parents to spend so much money on seminary in Israel, it’s a burden these schools are putting on us it seems like they don’t realize what’s going on in this economy.† She said plenty of parents cannot afford it financially but feel the pressure to take every penny and even loans to send their daughters. She does not understand what’s wrong the seminaries here that they are not being enforced. I’m on the same boat as Mrs. Edery. If seminary in Israel is so important and they feel everyone is obligated to go, they should cut down tuition fee. There are scholarship programs that some families are qualified for. Even with that help it’s difficult. Chevy, who was recently a kallah, tried giving over her point of view regarding isreal. She brought up an excellent point that many people only realize once they get back from Israel. Free time in Israel can lead to bad and downfall of a person. When you’re free and bored you look for bad, that’s nature of a person. This defeats the whole purpose of â€Å"growing† in Israel. Most parents are naive and tend to throw this right over their head while they’re figuring out the seminary for their daughter. â€Å"If parents knew what goes on there at certain hours, certain places, they wouldn’t even think twice to send their daughters there† I was actually in Israel a couple of weeks ago and I was astonished by what goes on. Bis Yaakov girls hanging around because there are no night classes certain nights. These seminaries are trying to do well but they are missing an important point. Every parent wants only good for their child, in my7 opinion they should go check out the scene there before sending their child. In Brooklyn a girl has parents watching her and controlling her. This saves her from falling most of the time. A person has to be extremely strong and know their limits if they’re planning on spending the year in the holy land. Mrs. Fink, a seminary advisor in Prospect Park agrees with this free time issue. She says people sometimes get this wrong. They think they’re entering a place with kedusha and its going to stop them from doing bad. That’s not true, because if a person wants to do bad he will find his way. So you really have to know yourself ad beware of this. Boys are sent off to Israel and they hang out on the streets that are a danger for girls. She also explains how Israel is amazing because you focus on limudei kodesh and spiritually a whole day. This is a watering the seed of a person to grow. But in Brooklyn it’s just a couple hours of the day and the rest is secular studies. It’s a big expense; some families financially can’t afford it so the child has to understand accept this matter. â€Å" some families need that extra 20,000 dollars for the Childs wedding, instead of spending it on seminary† after seminary the girl iyh is ready to get married and the chatuna is a big expense, so seminary expense should be cut down. Another reason Mrs. Fink thinks a girl should stay home, Shabbat placing. Although seminaries make sure you have a place for Shabbat, it’s not always that homey atmosphere a child needs. Girls are sent to random families they don’t know, how can parents let such? It’s hard for some girl not to be in their own home, in the atmosphere they are used to for Shabbat. One of my cousins, Leora, went to BYA maalot here in Brooklyn, NY. â€Å"Main reason why people go to seminary is to grow, and they think that can only happen in Israel, but here I am proving them wrong† She grew tremendously, great hashgafa and great teachers. She met a lot of new girls and built real true friendships with them. â€Å"All my friends went to 9sreal, I felt left out at first but after gaining so much I realized how lucky I am to attend seminary near home†. She said it was really convenient instead of sleeping in a dirty dorm room she was able to sleep in her own house and bed and even go to seminary!!!! Some girls think they won’t grow by staying in Brooklyn. It’s because our schools aren’t discussing and bringing girls in whom had great and meaningful experiences here. â€Å"I wish I was able to repeat seminary in Brooklyn again† Leora is already 2 years out of seminary and still values every moment of her attendance to BYA m aalot. Marlene, a friend of mine whom also stayed in Brooklyn agrees with my cousin Leora. She attended Machon in Boro Park. â€Å"The teachers were role models, their hashgafa was amazing, I wanted to grow and gain some more torah knowledge before entering the next stage in my life, and yet I did.† Marlene fell into peer pressure and did apply to seminary in Israel. Her sister veevee, who went to Israel a couple years before convinced her not to go. Veevee went for the wrong reasons, peer pressure. She saw what it was like and returned home after a couple of months and attended seminary in Boro Park mid November. She didn’t feel the obligation to be in Israel when she was able to be home and gain the same thing. Therefore she told Marlene the truth that it’s a fashion statement to go to Israel. â€Å"You want to grow, you can even grow in Brooklyn, and it doesn’t say in the torah that growing only works in Israel†. I strongly agree with this, it’s something important that should be taken into concern. A downside about Israel seminary from my point of view is brain wash. I see it with my own eyes, m=when my friends come back from seminary in Israel they are totally different. The ones that become frumer are brainwashed for six months then they’re back to themselves how they were before leaving to seminary. I see this with all my friends that went to seminary and grew for the better. It stops the girls from dating right away, they have to wait till that â€Å"brainwash† is washed away, or else this can be dangerous. As opposed to the ones that stayed in Brooklyn, I’ve never came across such incidents. Some girls do need Israel. Some girls need the experience for the right reason. It’s a big decision that needs a lot of thought out in to it. Parents and schools should put Brooklyn seminaries on their list too and set aside time to look into it. No question there are many people whom go to Israel to study but thank god we are blessed to have fine seminaries here in Brooklyn, NY that a girl can grow spiritually and gain similar benefits. In my opinion this whole Israel â€Å"business† is a trend and everyone feels the need t o stay in fashion and be in style. The fact that schools aren’t focusing on Brooklyn seminaries it makes this concept a tougher decision then it really should be.

Philosophy Statement :: Education Teaching Teachers Essays

Philosophy Statement Teaching is a job that will always be in high demand. I feel teaching is very important because the future depends on it. In this paper, I plan to tell my personal reasons for becoming a teacher, future goals, and my philosophical views on education. My main reasons for wanting to become a teacher are time with family and vacation time, working with students, teaching kids the importance of exercise, and intellectual matters. As a teacher, I will have a lot of time to spend with my family. Teachers have summers off, spring break, Christmas break, and some holidays. This will give me plenty of time to spend with my family. I would also have time to take long vacations and visit different regions of the United States. I will get to see my kids grow up into adults. Many people do not get this opportunity because they have to work year round. Having an opportunity to be with my family was an important decision in my wanting to become a teacher. Another reason for my wanting to become a teacher is working with students. As a teacher, I would like to have a positive influence and effect on the students I teach. For example, a good teacher may influence a student to go to college after high school. A teacher could also serve as a reference or help a student get a scholarship. As a teacher, I would be willing to do what it takes to help a student succeed. I feel I could develop moral character in the students I work with. I would also like to become a teacher in order to teach students the importance of exercise. I plan to major in physical education and minor in health, and I will gain certification in grades K-12. Many students do not realize the positive effects of exercise. As a teacher, I feel I could motivate students to exercise daily. It would feel great to know that students started an exercise program because of my teaching.

Nonverbal Communication Is Important

Communication is the exchange of information from a person to another or a group of people; this includes a sender transferring information, ideas or feelings to a receiver. There are two ways to communicate: verbal and nonverbal. Verbal is the way that people use to communicate everyday: talking. Nonverbal communication does not use talking but involves body language, posture, gestures, eye contact, touch and physiological responses. Although people use verbal communication everyday, their nonverbal communication is more important than verbal.Nonverbal communication is a big benefit for business, because that is the important key when a business man can express himself; he can be confident when meeting a partner or clients. For example, the handshake is an important way to make a first impression. No matter the basis of the hand shake, it should become a part of repertoire. Handshake is a sign of trust and help build strong relationship. Imagine meeting a well – groomed, well – dress expert for the first time – but when you are shake his/her hand, you feel like you are grabbing an infant’s finger. â€Å"The important of nonverbal communication ten things your handshakes says about you†) When people meet someone with a strong handshake, they usually come up with some hypothesis like: that person is confident, serious and focused. On the contrary, a weak handshake will make people come up with some thinking like the person is weak in personality, uncertain or lacking in determination (â€Å"The important of nonverbal communication ten things your handshake says about you†). When people have a strong handshake, their hands usually have a warm temperature.Temperature is one of many first impressions, too. When people meet someone with a warm hand, they will think that person is kindness and gracious. Handshakes is the most important in business, nobody want their partner to have a bad impression about them. So nonverbal co mmunication is very important in business, without that, the business may not be develop and effect the economy of country. In the other hand, the role of nonverbal communication is very important in school environment.Sentence and Verbal CommunicationIn school, student from everywhere in the world with different cultures would like to hang out with their friend, that is social being and using different nonverbal communication can built or destroy a relationship of misunderstood action. A child first learns to communicate with those around him or her by using his or her nonverbal skills like pointing, clenching his fist, clapping his hands when excited, slapping away objects he does not want, being stubborn when he or she is sleepy, etc. Therefore,  those skills are more highly developed in the beginning than is his speech. By combining non-verbal and verbal when trying to reach the children you have a better chance to make connection (â€Å"the advantages and disadvantages of non verbal communication in school†). With some student lack of ability to explain them, so the teacher can look at their facial expression or their action and can easily understand what they are cannot say through verbal communication.
